Blazek was designated for assignment by the Brewers on Wednesday.

The 28-year-old struggled mightily at the end of last season and throughout spring training, so when it came time to clear a spot on the 40-man roster for recent waiver claim Nick Franklin, Blazek ended up being the odd man out. Blazek does have some solid big-league performance to his name, so if he can right the ship with Triple-A Colorado Springs this season, he could still work his way back to the big leagues later in the season despite this move.
