Blake Beavan twirled four shutout innings on two hits and a walk while striking out three in Wednesday's win over the Angels. A fine showing from the young right-hander that will earn him some brownie points toward a spot in the 2012 rotation. Beavan posted a 4.27 ERA and nice 1.25 WHIP over 15 starts for the Mariners last season, but he held a woeful 3.9 K/9 rate, and his minor league track record suggests someone that won't be mixed league material even if he should earn a spot among the starting five.
