Blackmon went 3-for-5 with a run and his fifth stolen base in Friday's loss to the Dodgers. All three of Blackmon's singles came off of lefty pitchers (Clayton Kershaw, Paco Rodriguez, and Adam Liberatore), a performance that should give manager Walt Weiss some additional confidence in using the outfielder atop the order when a southpaw is starting for the opposition. While the three-hit showing raised Blackmon's average to a robust .298, he's tapered off from his early-season power surge. He hasn't recorded an extra-base hit since his two-homer game May 3 in San Diego.
