Beltre (ankle) is not in the lineup Friday against the Nationals, Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

While Beltre isn't in the lineup Friday, it appears he may have avoided a trip to the DL for at least another day. Dario Alvarez was optioned to Triple-A to make room for recently recalled Jurickson Profar, giving Beltre another day to test his ankle out. A trip to the DL still remains possible, though it appears the Rangers may instead choose to use Beltre as a pinch hitter off the bench for the weekend. Profar will start at third base in his stead.
