Engel (hamstring) will begin a rehab assignment Saturday with Triple-A El Paso.

Engel landed on the injured list March 30, just before the start of the 2023 regular season, after suffering a left hamstring strain toward end of spring training. He should be an option for the Padres' outfield by the end of the coming week.
