Hamilton will opt to explore his options outside the Marlins organization after he was designated for assignment and outrighted to Triple-A Jacksonville last week. The 31-year-old could have some appeal to a playoff-contending team down the stretch as a speed-and-defense-oriented reserve outfielder.
