Barney will start at third base and bat eighth in the order Wednesday against the Indians, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.
EDGE Analysis
After Chris Coghlan was added to the major-league roster April 14 following Josh Donaldson's (calf) placement on the disabled list, it looked as though Barney could be at risk of falling into the short end of a platoon at third base. That hasn't materialized, as Barney will draw a start at the position for the fourth straight game, despite the fact the Blue Jays have faced right-handed pitchers in all of those contests. Barney is batting a credible .297 over 67 plate appearances this season, but his dearth of power and speed and presence low in the order in what's been an anemic lineup renders him little more than a one-category play.
