Barney, who is starting Monday at second base, will remain the primary shortstop throughout the absence of Troy Tulowitzki (quad), MLB.com's Gregor Chisholm reports.
EDGE Analysis
Barney was called upon to hold down second base duties Wednesday, but that was merely because Devon Travis needed a day off. Although Ryan Goins will get the starting nod Monday, it will be Barney that occupies that role for the near future. The Blue Jays have yet to disclose the results of Tulo's MRI on Saturday, so it's unclear at this time how long Barney will be a candidate for regular starts.
