Barney went 3-for-3 with a walk and scored twice in Wednesday's 7-0 victory over the Yankees.
EDGE Analysis
Barney improved his on-base percentage to .379 -- best among Jays with 90-plus at-bats -- by reaching base four times Wednesday. When Troy Tulowitzki returns from the DL, the Jays will likely need to make a decision between Barney and Ryan Goins as their primary backup infielder. Although he was the underdog to begin the season, Barney is hitting .344 over 33 games this season, much better than Goins' .165 in 44 games. Also worth noting is that Barney is hitting an incredible .431 at home this season. It's hard to image that Barney will be the one optioned to the minors when the time comes for the team to make a move.
