Barney (0-for-4) made the start at third base Friday while Josh Donaldson played the role of DH.
EDGE Analysis
Barney got the start at the hot corner for the third time in the team's last six games. It's becoming increasingly obvious that Josh Donaldson isn't 100 percent healthy -- he's been dealing with multiple lingering ailments all season -- giving the defensively=skilled Barney continued opportunities to be penciled in the lineup. The story of Barney's season has been all about taking advantage of other's misfortune. He's been a key cog in the Jays infield for most of the year because of injuries. The versatile veteran has made 15-plus starts at second, short and third while getting the nod in the outfield twice and even pitching once (in the 19-inning game against the Indians on July 1). Barney's eligibility at multiple positions makes him a valuable fantasy asset in many formats.
