The Red Sox and O'Neill avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $5.85 million contract Thursday, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports.

O'Neill surely didn't want to go to an arbitration hearing with his new team and now he won't have to. The outfielder has been plagued by injuries the last two seasons but is hoping a change of scenery in his walk year leads to a rebound.
