Avila was removed from Tuesday's game against the Indians after taking a foul ball off his mask in the sixth inning, MLive.com's Chris Iott reports. The catcher said after the game that he felt fine, but manager Brad Ausmus acknowledged that Avila is not likely to play Wednesday. Given Avila's history with concussions, it makes sense for the Tigers to take every precaution with him. Since Avila initially experienced some dizziness prior to exiting the game, he'll be closely evaluated over the next couple of days to determine if he's suffering from any symptoms that might foretell a longer absence. Bryan Holaday will serve as the team's catcher until Avila is deemed fit to return.
