Avila (knee) will begin his rehab assignment Friday at Triple-A Toledo, the Detroit Free Press reports. The Tigers plan to have Avila alternate between catching and DH'ing during his rehab stint. Avila is scheduled to catch between three and five innings Friday, followed by DH'ing Saturday before catching again on Sunday. Barring a setback, Avila could return to the Tigers sometime in the next two weeks.
