Avila (knee) is hitting off a tee Thursday and will take batting practice with the Tigers in Chicago this weekend, MLB.com's Jason Beck reports. He was cleared for baseball activities Tuesday, and with him scheduled to take batting practice with the Tigers this weekend, it sounds like Avila is progressing well. James McCann has equipped himself well in replacing Avila, so the Tigers will probably take a cautious approach with bringing back Avila. He should be considered out indefinitely.
