Avila (knee) expects to return well before the All-Star break, the Detroit Free Press reports. Avila hopes to begin a rehab assignment late next week, and both he and Tigers manager Brad Ausmus expect the assignment to last four-to-six games. That would put Avila on track to rejoin the big-league club in early July, possibly giving him more than a full week of action before the All-Star break.
