Avila is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Mariners, Anthony Fenech of the Detroit Free Press reports. Avila has started each of the past five games between catcher and first base, but will receive a day off of his own Wednesday. James McCann will start behind the plate, while Jefry Marte will make his first career major league start at first base.
