"He took one off the mask earlier in the day, but at the time, he didn't show the reaction that's normally associated with someone that's been concussed. He kind of went about his business," said manager Brad Ausmus. Avila will likely miss Monday's contest against the Twins. Avila was removed after his seventh inning at-bat and was diagnosed with lightheadedness. He took a pitch off the mask earlier in the game and was reportedly experiencing headaches in the dugout. Avila has dealt with concussion issues each of the last three seasons, so the Tigers likely wanted to err on the side of caution. As such, it is unlikely Avila suits up Monday in Minnesota.
