Avila (hamstring) will begin a rehab stint at Triple-A Charlotte on Friday, Dan Hayes of CSN Chicago reports.

The Sox haven't revealed how long they expect the rehab assignment to last, but Avila will likely need to play in a handful of games before returning to the big league club. Once that happens, he's expected to reenter a timeshare with Dioner Navarro behind the plate.
