Avila (back) will not play in Thursday's spring training game, James Schmehl of MLive.com reports. Avila was removed from Wednesday's spring training game with lower-back stiffness, the second back issue he's experienced this spring. Manager Brad Ausmus indicated that he's not overly concerned with the latest ailment, so Avila will likely return to the lineup without missing too much time.
