Athletics placed OF Josh Willingham on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to June 18, with a strained left Achilles tendon. We previously heard that the Athletics weren't considering a DL-stint, but they apparently didn't want to go short-handed any longer. Willingham is batting .237/.307/.410 with 10 homers and 42 RBI over 257 plate appearances this season. He'll need to prove he's healthy for any team to bite before the trade deadline.
