Adell is unlikely to begin a potential 2020 season on the big-league roster, but his landing spot may be determined by the status of minor-league plans, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.
EDGE Analysis
Though Adell showed some positive signs before the suspension of Cactus League play, his impatience at the plate -- he racked up 13 strikeouts without drawing a walk -- led manager Joe Maddon to indicate that the promising youngster is in need of additional seasoning. Per Fletcher, that seasoning could best be accomplished in what will essentially amount to instructional leagues if teams keep minor leaguers in Arizona and/or Florida. Another option is for the Angels to designate Adell to their taxi squad (if such an option is indeed part of a 2020 framework), but that could harm Adell's development as it would limit him to workouts rather than actual game action.
