Andy Martino of the New York Daily News reports that the David Wright extension talks will soon accelerate. The Mets exercised Wright's $16 million option for 2103 on Tuesday night, but that was really a formality. Now the two sides will dig in and try to come up with a long-term deal that will keep the third baseman in New York for the foreseeable future. Wright, 29, hit .306/.391/.492 with 21 home runs, 93 RBI and 15 stolen bases in 156 games this season while playing superb defense at the hot corner. It's believed that he is going to wind up with a seven-year contract worth north of $120 million.
