Andrew McCutchen went 0-for-3 with a strikeout in Friday's loss to the Cardinals. In an odd scene, acting manager Jeff Bannister removed McCutchen during a double-switch in the fifth inning. The Pirates were down 5-0 at that point, but the game was far from over. Still, apparently Bannister thought it was best to give the struggling outfielder a breather. McCutchen is hitting just .226 on the year and has only driven in one run over his last 10 games.
