Andrew Carignan confirmed late Wednesday night that he needs Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery. It was hinted at as soon as Carignan was diagnosed (earlier this week) with a sprained ulnar collateral ligament. He's obviously done for the rest of the 2012 season and will likely struggle to make it back before the All-Star break in 2013. Carignan posted a 4.66 ERA in 9 2/3 innings this year.
