Alonso (shoulder) was placed on the 15-day DL on Saturday, retroactive to May 8. This was expected, but Alonso was officially replaced on the active roster by outfielder Abraham Almonte on Saturday. Manager Bud Black told the San Diego Union-Tribune that while there is a lot of deep bruising in Alonso's shoulder, doctors "feel as though this will be a two-week process for him to get all this to the point where he can move and play again."
