Alonso (shoulder) has full range of motion in his injured right shoulder, but is not yet ready to resume baseball activities, MLB.com reports. Alonso is "a bit further away" from returning to baseball activities, according to manager Bud Black. He was placed on the disabled list retroactive to May 8 due to a bone bruise on his right shoulder that stemmed from a diving play for a ground ball against Arizona. The Padres have used a number of players to fill Alonso's void at first base and had to resort to using Will Middlebrooks there on Thursday.
