Alonso (forearm) was transferred to the 60-day DL on Monday, Dennis Lin of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports. This is simply a procedural move to free up a 40-man roster spot, as Alonso was already ruled out for the year after undergoing surgery on his forearm last week. Alonso underwhelmed in his 84 games this season (.240/.285/.397), and he's by no means assured of a starting job heading into 2015.
