Alfredo Simon tossed eight innings of one-run ball in a tough-luck loss to the Rays on Saturday. The eight-inning outing tied a career-high. He had done it twice before in 2011 with the Orioles. His only mistake Saturday was a solo homer by James Loney in the top of the second inning, but without any help from his offense, it resulted in a loss. He fanned four and walked on batter in the loss and now owns a 1.20 ERA and 10/2 K/BB ratio in 15 innings across two starts. Given Mat Latos' issues, the Reds have to feel pretty good about him right now.
