Alex Avila (jaw) is not in the Tigers' lineup Tuesday. Avila experienced headaches during batting practice Monday and is sitting out a second straight game. Though the Tigers don't think he has a concussion, it's possible he'll need a few more days before returning. Gerald Laird is catching for Max Scherzer Tuesday.
