Ahmed has seen his playing time decline over the past few weeks and the Arizona Republic's Nick Piecoro notes that Ahmed's poor performance since mid-July has pushed the D-backs to give Chris Owings, Phil Gosselin, and Brandon Drury more playing time, especially since the last two joined the team. Other than a couple of decent months in May and June, Ahmed has been pretty poor at the plate - posting just a .216/.268/.331 line on the year - and his future beyond this season is unclear.
