Ahmed (paternity) plans on returning to the team for Monday's game against the Padres, Jody Jackson of Fox Sports Arizona reports.

Ahmed was placed on the paternity list earlier Saturday, and MLB rules state that he's allowed to miss up to three games while he's away from the team. However, it seems Ahmed intends to come back a day early instead of waiting the full three games. Jean Segura will take over at shortstop Saturday and could do so again for the series finale against the Giants, but Ahmed figures to be back in time for Monday's series opener against San Diego.
