Adam Wainwright was knocked around for three runs on three hits over his inning of work during Tuesday's All-Star game.
Wainwright admitted to grooving a pitch to Derek Jeter to lead off the frame - something he probably shouldn't have said, but that's another matter - and The Captain banged it to right field for a double. Jeter came around to score on a Mike Trout triple and Trout came around on a two-run homer by Miguel Cabrera. Waino's pitch to Cabrera wasn't a bad one, as it was in off the plate, but the best hitter in the game managed to turn on it and put it into the seats. Wainwright completely deserved to start for the NL, but those that thought Clayton Kershaw should've gotten the ball are no doubt smirking. Kershaw, by the way, tossed a perfect second inning.
