Adam Wainwright notched his NL-leading 15th victory Friday in a 3-1 complete game victory over the Braves. It was his major-league leading fifth complete game of the season. Wainwright scattered six hits (all of them singles) and no walks while striking out nine. He threw 128 pitches in the victory, which is the second-highest pitch total of his career. In any other year, he'd be right in the middle of the Cy Young conversation, but the Dodgers' Clayton Kershaw is on another planet right now. The Cardinals' ace will bring a 2.58 ERA into an important matchup against the Reds next week at home.
