Adam Wainwright (elbow) told R.B. Fallstrom of the Associated Press that he tried to talk the Cardinals into adding him to the postseason roster. Not a big surprise, as Wainwright hinted a couple months ago that he had a goal of getting ready for a possible playoff berth. But, it's also no surprise that the request was emphatically denied, as the Cards have no intention of rushing Waino back from Tommy John surgery. The good news is that the right-hander has been throwing twice a week for a couple months and says "things are going great." He expects to be fully healthy by spring training.
