This is yet another major blow to the Yankees' first base depth as Ackley was serving as Mark Teixeira's backup, and Teixera himself has not had a clean bill of health this season. Ackley's injury further magnifies the loss of Greg Bird, who was lost for the season with a torn labrum in February. The Yankees could plug Ronnie Torreyes in at first on occasion with Ackley done for the season, or they could give Brian McCann some starts there as well.
