Ackley, who hit three homers in his first five games, has four extra-base hits (three doubles) in his last 37 games. His time as a Mariner is nearing an end. The Mariners are carrying six relievers, but when an extra arm is necessary, Ackley could be the one to go to make room. He's out of options, so the Mariners would have to pass him through waivers to keep the 2009 second overall draft pick.
