According to Rob Bradford of WEEI.com, the Red Sox have shown interest in free agent first basemen Casey Kotchman and Lyle Overbay. But Bradford notes that the Boston front office is not currently engaged in active discussions with either player. With the Mike Napoli deal still in jeopardy, the Red Sox are likely just seeking out a couple of cheap fallback options. Kotchman posted an abysmal .229/.280/.333 batting line for the Indians in 2012.
