According to Joel Sherman of the New York Post, the consensus among league executives is that the Mets will offer David Wright a seven-year, $127 million contract extension. Wright has a $16 million option in 2013, so his total future package could be worth $143 million over eight seasons. Sherman reports that officials believe topping Johan Santana's $137.5 million and Ryan Zimmerman's six-year, $100 million extension with the Nationals are important to Wright. Under the proposed deal, Wright would make roughly $18 million average annual value (AAV), and be under contract through the 2020 season.
