According to Hiram Torraca of El Nuevo D¡a in Puerto Rico, the Cubs have signed right-hander Joel Pineiro to a minor league contract. No official announcement yet from the team, but Pineiro is expected to spend about 10 days in extended spring training before joining Triple-A Iowa. The 35-year-old missed the entire 2013 season after undergoing surgery to repair a torn labrum.
