According to FOXSports.com's Jon Paul Morosi, "it would be difficult" for the Padres to sign Carlos Quentin to an extension until ownership is settled. Morosi suggests the Padres could trade Quentin at the non-waiver deadline and try to re-sign him again next offseason as a sort of hedge. Quentin has a .970 OPS with seven home runs in 30 games this season and has been linked to the Tigers and Blue Jays, among others, since returning from the disabled list in late May.
