According to ESPN New York's Adam Rubin, Johan Santana is unlikely to sign with a team until late-winter. The free agent starter underwent surgery in April to repair a re-tear of the anterior capsule in his left shoulder and is still recovering from that procedure. Santana is currently throwing on flat ground from 90 feet and will likely begin showcasing himself for major league teams in a month. The Royals are known to have some level of interest.
