According to Andy Martino of the New York Daily News, the Mets recently called the Padres to inquire about closer Huston Street. The Mets are actively searching for bullpen help, so Street is a natural target. It would be an interesting destination for him considering his past relationship with Mets bench coach and former A's manager Bob Geren, but stranger things have happened. The 28-year-old right-hander has a 1.42 ERA, 11 saves and a 24/6 K/BB ratio over 19 innings this season. His contract includes a $9 million mutual option for 2013 with a $500,000 buyout.
