Reds manager David Bell said Friday that Gibaut (forearm) is progressing but isn't a lock to be ready by Opening Day, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

However, Gibaut's recent usage suggests that he has some trust in high-leverage situations.

Gibaut has struck out all six batters he's faced this spring, including the three he faced Wednesday against the A's.
