Washington Nationals second baseman/outfielder Howie Kendrick(hamstring) will probably rejoin the team when eligible to come off the injured list on Thursday, without getting a rehab assignment in first. Kendrick has been out with a hamstring injury suffered during spring training. He will take on a utility role but is not a natural candidate to get a significant uptick in playing time from Trea Turner's injury, seeing as Kendrick has never played shortstop in his career.

Washington Nationals second baseman Howie Kendrick (hamstring) is taking batting practice on Tuesday, and manager Dave Martinez said that the veteran infielder could come off the injured list when eligible on Thursday without going on a minor league rehab assignment.
