Garcia went 2-for-5 with a double, a run, an RBI and a walk in the Padres' 19-4 win over the Blue Jays on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Garcia had a good day setting the table from atop the lineup on a mammoth day for the San Diego offense, reaching base three times and slapping his seventh double of the season. The 29-year-old has two multi-hit performances in his last three games to bring his slash line up to .272/.368/.432 with a pair of homers and nine RBI over 81 at-bats.

Garcia is not starting Tuesday against Arizona.
EDGE Analysis
Garcia appears to be slipping back into a bench role, starting just twice in the last five games. Ian Kinsler has seemingly reclaimed his starting job at second base.

Garcia remains on the bench Saturday against the Pirates.
EDGE Analysis
Garcia hasn't started against a lefty all season, so it's no surprise he sits Saturday, with Steven Brault expected to be the primary pitcher behind opener Montana DuRapau. He's been seeing his playing time diminish against righties as well, with Ian Kinsler starting his third consecutive game at second base.

Garcia will head to the bench for Friday's game against the Pirates, John Perrotto of DKPittsburghSports.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Garcia hasn't notched in his past two contests (0-for-8), so he'll get the night off to regroup. Ian Kinsler will get the start at the keystone and lead off in Garcia's stead.

Garcia will sit Tuesday against lefty Clayton Kershaw and the Dodgers.
EDGE Analysis
Garcia appears to be in a platoon with Ian Kinsler at second base. The Padres line up to face righties for the next three games, so expect Garcia back in the starting lineup moving forward.

Garcia went 2-for-4 with a double, walk, two RBI and a run in Sunday's 10-7 loss to the Rockies.
EDGE Analysis
Garcia turned in his second multi-hit outing of the series and finished the three-game slate in Colorado with a .467 on-base percentage out of the leadoff spot. While the usual caveats pertaining to offensive outputs at Coors Field certainly apply here, Garcia's productive weekend should at least temporarily afford him some leash as the Padres' table setter and top second baseman.

Garcia will start at second base and lead off Sunday against the Rockies.
EDGE Analysis
The Padres have used Garcia atop the order for all three games in Colorado, with Ian Kinsler shifting to a bench role as a result. Garcia has at validated the decision to keep him in the leadoff spot by reaching base in four of his 10 plate appearances versus the Rockies, but he won't be assured a long-term stay in the lineup. In fact, Garcia could be headed back to the bench within a few days with Fernando Tatis Jr. (hamstring) nearing a return from the injured list.

Garcia is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Braves.
EDGE Analysis
Before moving to the bench in Wednesday's 5-1 loss, Garcia had started three games in a row and made two appearances out of the leadoff spot in place of the injured Fernando Tatis (hamstring). Despite reaching base at a .385 clip in those three games, Garcia will find himself out of the lineup for the second straight day as Manny Machado and Ian Kinsler form the Padres' double-play tandem.

Garcia is playing shortstop and hitting leadoff for the Padres' tilt Monday against the Braves, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Garcia only has 22 at-bats on the year, but this will be his second straight start. He'll man shortstop in the absence of Fernando Tatis Jr., who exited the Padres' game Sunday with a hamstring injury, and doesn't yet have a timetable for a return. Garcia is slashing .227/.333/.455 with one homer in 16 games so far this season.

Garcia agreed to a one-year, $910,000 deal with the Padres, avoiding arbitration, Jon Heyman of FancredSports.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
San Diego recently claimed Garcia off waivers and will indeed go into the season with him on the 25-man roster. That said, as San Diego's youth movement heats up this summer, it would not be surprising if he was cast off the 40-man roster. Garcia hit .221/.309/.304 with three home runs and three steals in 208 plate appearances with the Cardinals last season. Almost all of his value is generated on the defensive side of the ball.
