Green made his first start with the Giants after being called up prior to Thursday's game. He went 2-for-5 with a double in the 12-6 win over Oakland.
EDGE Analysis
With Joe Panik (concussion) on the disabled list and Ramiro Pena (ankle) going down Wednesday, Green could be in line for some regular playing time at the keystone this week. While he is no longer the prospect he was during his time in Oakland and Los Angeles, he has produced with Triple-A Sacramento this season, batting .294 with six homers and 33 RBI in 250 plate appearances.

Green was recalled Thursday and will start at second base against the A's, Connor Letourneau of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Giants optioned reliever Chris Stratton in a corresponding move to add Green to the active roster Thursday. Green only managed to slash .190/.227/.262 at the big league level last season, but he's put together a respectable .294/.321/.437 slash line at Triple-A Sacramento this season. He'll bat seventh in the order Thursday against Dillon Overton.

Green went 0-for-4 in Sunday's loss to the Salt Lake Bees.
EDGE Analysis
Having spent 2015 splitting time between the Angels and Triple-A Salt Lake, Green has been off to a fairly underwhelming start with his new club. Thus far, he has hit .263 in 10 games and has accrued an on-base percentage of .282. It's expected that the Giants will be patient with his development in Triple-A Sacramento before bringing him up, as he's coming off a subpar 21 game MLB campaign where he hit below .200. Additionally, the Giants' current starter at second base is Joe Panik, an All-Star in only his third season of the MLB.

Green signed a minor league deal with the Giants on Monday, Matt Eddy of Baseball America reports.
EDGE Analysis
Green cleared waivers in October, so there didn't seem to be much interest out there for the 28-year-old, but the Giants were apparently intrigued enough to extend an offer. He posted a .306/.337/.449 slash line at Triple-A last season, but struggled in the majors to the tune of a .190 average in 42 at bats, so he'll likely begin the year in the minors.

Green cleared waivers and was assigned outright to Triple-A Salt Lake on Wednesday, Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
All 29 other MLB teams passed on Green after he was designated for assignment last week, so he will remain in the Angels' organization for the time being. While Green can play all around the field, he's done little at the plate in 109 games at the highest level to suggest he will ever be more than a fringe major leaguer (.249/.283/.335).

Green was designated for assignment by the Angels on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
His defensive versatility was not enough to compensate for the lack of offensive production at the major league level. In 21 games with the big club this season, Green went just 8-for-42 (.190 average) with one extra-base hit and 14 strikeouts, lowering his line at the highest level to .249/.283/.335. The 28-year-old did hit .306/.337/.449 at Triple-A Salt Lake this season, so it's at least possible he could draw interest from another club.

Green is out of the lineup Tuesday, the Orange County Register's Jeff Fletcher reports.
EDGE Analysis
Taylor Featherston was activated Tuesday, meaning the playing time at second base could be closer to a 50/50 split while Johnny Giavotella (illness) is out.

Green (knee) is back in the lineup hitting ninth Thursday in Detroit.
EDGE Analysis
Green is in line for a steady dose of at-bats while Johnny Giavotella (illness) is on the DL. His top tool is his hit tool, so he could hit for a solid average down the stretch, but there won't be much in the way of counting stats.

Green is out of the lineup Wednesday, Alden Gonzalez of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Green tweaked his knee during Tuesday's game, and he'll sit out, despite initially stating that he hoped to be ready to return Wednesday. Ryan Jackson will make the start at second base in Green's place.

Los Angeles Angels infielder Grant Green was recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake on Friday. Green has been in the minor leagues since June 6 but his positional flexibility has him back in the major leagues, where he will provide depth in the infield and outfield.
