Perkins (shoulder) worked a bullpen session and performed long-toss drills Thursday, LaVelle E. Neal III of the Star Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
The southpaw continues crawling his way back from 2016 shoulder surgery and doesn't have a clear return timetable. Perkins' placement on the 60-day disabled list guarantees he can't return to major-league action until June 1. Of course, a safe estimation keeps him out longer than that. Even after he resurfaces, he'll likely need to prove worthy before he can reclaim a spot near the back end of the Twins' bullpen.

Perkins (shoulder) was placed on the 60-day disabled list Sunday, Mike Berardino of the Pioneer Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
Perkins is coming off of 2016 labrum surgery and is still a ways away from making his major-league return, as evidenced by his placement on the 60-day disabled list. The 34-year-old will be eligible to return in early June.

Perkins (shoulder) could be moved to the 60-day DL at some point early in the season, which would mean the soonest he could debut would be June 1, Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
The team will meet with Perkins toward the end of this week to map out a plan, and while general manager Thad Levine does not want to rule out Perkins until June, he admitted it may be best for his long-term availability. "That wouldn't be your first choice, but we also really are much more attentive to how he's pitching in September than to how he's pitching in April or May," Levine said. Perkins will undoubtedly start the season on the disabled list, and then could be moved to the 60-day DL (backdated to the last week of spring training) in order to free up a spot on the 40-man roster, which would provide valuable roster flexibility over the first two months of the season.

Perkins (shoulder) is throwing pain-free sessions every four days but still has no timetable to face hitters again, Brian Murphy of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
Although the southpaw is feeling healthy, his velocity in these workouts sits in the upper-70s, nowhere near his usual mid-90s stuff he flaunted back before his shoulder surgery. Between this and the uncertainty lying behind his return to live action seem to have Perkins destined to start the season on the disabled list, although the fact that he isn't experiencing any pain when he throws is still a promising sign.

Perkins (shoulder) threw a successful bullpen session Friday and is on track to throw another one next week, Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
Perkins has been building up his arm strength via bullpen sessions all spring, with the ultimate hope of being ready for Opening Day. At this point, however, it's still unclear whether the left-hander has made enough progress to establish a clear timetable for his return. It's already been a long road to recovery for Perkins, who was placed on the 60-day DL last season after appearing in just two games.

Perkins (shoulder) threw 15 pitches off the mound Thursday, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. However, there's no timetable for him to face hitters.
EDGE Analysis
The Twins are taking it slowly with Perkins in spring training while he recovers from surgery to repair the labrum in his left shoulder, which limited him to just two appearances in 2016. This was his fifth bullpen session of the spring. It's not clear when he'll be ready to appear in a spring game and it's likely he'll begin the season on the DL as he works his way back, but at least he's making progress.

Perkins (shoulder) successfully threw a 15-pitch bullpen session Wednesday, Mike Berardino of The Pioneer Press reports
EDGE Analysis
It was the third bullpen session this spring for Perkins and was more intense than either of the other two. The three-time All-Star is seeking to put together a solid spring in order to have a shot at a bullpen position, but could still open the year on the disabled list. Nonetheless, the gradual progress is encouraging after Perkins played just two games last season before undergoing labrum surgery. Look for him to get closer to game action within the coming weeks.

Perkins (shoulder) is scheduled to throw his next bullpen session Wednesday, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Twins are take it slowly with Perkins in the spring while he recovers from surgery to repair the labrum in his left shoulder, which limited him to just two appearances in 2016. There's plenty of risk of Perkins failing to return to the form that made him record three 30-plus-save seasons in a row, and he could be forced to spend the beginning of 2017 on the DL if he's unable to pitch in Grapefruit League games by the time the spring ends. Perkins will need to make demonstrable progress in the coming weeks if he hopes to displace Brandon Kintzler as the team's closer to begin the season.

Perkins (shoulder) threw a second bullpen session Saturday, but could still open the year on the disabled list, MLB.com's Rhett Bollinger reports.
EDGE Analysis
Manager Paul Molitor estimated that Perkins threw at 75 percent intensity Saturday, as he continues to make gradual progress in his return from shoulder surgery. He will be allowed to "help steer the ship" of his rehab plan, Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports. Given the severity of the injury and where Perkins is at in his career, he cannot afford major setbacks, so the progression should remain gradual. The Twins' bullpen is going to be pretty fluid, and Perkins has experience on his side, but this recent surgery along with a decline in stuff and effectiveness could prevent him from seeing save opportunities this season.

Perkins (shoulder) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session Friday, LaVelle E. Neal III of the Star Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Perkins threw one Tuesday, his first since the surgery he underwent to repair a torn labrum. He's probably not going to be ready by Opening Day or some time after that, so he may struggle to regain access to important fantasy innings, including save chances. Continue to monitor his spring progress.
