Cole (triceps) is not expected to start as soon as he's eligible to return from the disabled list, Root Sports Pittsburgh reports.
EDGE Analysis
He'll get the Dodgers at home sometime during the weekend of June 24-26. Cole avoided serious injury when he came out of Friday's game against St. Louis with a strained triceps muscle.

Cole (triceps) was placed on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday retroactive to June 11, Adam Berry of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
According to Berry, the Pirates are officially calling Cole's injury a "right triceps muscle strain" after getting the results of his MRI back. Cole suffered the injury Friday when he left his start in the third inning with tightness in his right triceps. The move to place him on the DL is retroactive to June 11, so he could theoretically be back by June 26 if he's ready, but the Pirates have yet to release an expected timetable for his return. Pitching prospect Jameson Taillon was recalled from Triple-A to start Tuesday and take Cole's spot on the active roster for the time being.

Cole (triceps) declined to discuss the results of his MRI and is no longer listed as Thursday's probable starter against the Mets, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.
EDGE Analysis
Pirates manager Clint Hurdle said Sunday that the team is waiting on a final medical evaluation before making any decisions. With the official game notes now listing Thursday's starter as "TBA," fantasy owners in weekly leagues may want to bench Cole for the coming week.

Cole (undisclosed) is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Saturday, Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Pirates will do their due diligence with their star pitcher Saturday after Cole left his start Friday with tightness in his right triceps. According to Rosenthal, the expectation going into the MRI is that Cole will likely miss some time, but the injury isn't believed to be season-ending. More information on Cole's status moving forward will be made available after Saturday's MRI.

Cole exited Friday's game in the third inning with right triceps tightness.
EDGE Analysis
While that's not the worst diagnosis to hear, there's also plenty of things that can go wrong with power pitchers and triceps problems. Cole is likely day-to-day for now with more clarity coming Saturday when he's re-examined.

Cole allowed three runs with four strikeouts compared to just one walk across 6.2 innings in Sunday's start versus the Angels. He did not factor into the decision.
EDGE Analysis
Cole pounded the strike zone and was nearly in line to earn the win Sunday, but the bullpen allowed a late lead to slip away as the Angels won with a late rally. He is the owner of a sparkling 2.85 ERA through 66.1 innings, but his K/9 rate now sits at a career-low 7.08. Although he has slightly underachieved in a couple of areas, Cole is still a strong fantasy asset and will look to get back in the win column Friday against the Cardinals.

Cole allowed three runs in 6.1 innings Tuesday, giving up nine hits and two walks while striking out four.
EDGE Analysis
He matched the Marlins' Jose Fernandez with six shutout innings before missing too many spots in the seventh. Pittsburgh gave its ace plenty of rope, with the righty finishing with 108 pitches, including 71 strikes. The three earned runs match his second-highest total (in 10 starts). He'll face the Angels at home Sunday.

Cole (5-4) allowed three runs on nine hits and two walks with four strikeouts over 6.1 innings in a loss Tuesday against the Marlins.
EDGE Analysis
Cole was dominant in six shutout innings to open the start, but he gave up three singles (including one infield hit), a walk and a wild pitch to surrender a three-run seventh inning. He was finally pulled after 108 pitches and may have simply ran out of gas. Despite the hitch, Cole still has four quality starts in his last five starts, a span in which he has allowed just six earned runs and has lowered his ERA from 3.95 to 2.72.

Cole allowed one unearned run on seven hits and three walks in five innings Thursday against Arizona.
EDGE Analysis
Cole, who threw 70 of 106 pitches for strikes, struggled with his pinpoint control at various times. After failing to record a strikeout in his last start, the righty struck out the first batter he faced and then retired the side on strikeouts in his last inning. He also went 2-for-3 with a double and a three-run homer, but lost the win when A.J. Schugel gave up two runs in the sixth inning.
