The Dodgers selected Stone's contract from Triple-A Oklahoma City ahead of his scheduled start Wednesday against the Phillies in Los Angeles.
EDGE Analysis
Los Angeles already had a spot open on the 40-man roster for Stone, but reliever Alex Vesia was optioned to Oklahoma City to clear room on the 26-man active roster for the 24-year-old righty, who is one of the organization's top pitching prospects. The addition of Stone gives the Dodgers six starters for the time being, but a strong debut outing could earn the rookie a more permanent spot in the rotation, given that Noah Syndergaard is on an expiring contract and has mostly struggled through his first six starts (6.32 ERA, 1.40 WHIP in 31.1 innings). Stone's numbers at Triple-A weren't eye-popping (4.74 ERA, 1.28 WHIP, 14.3 K-BB% in six starts), though it comes with the caveat that he was pitching in largely hitter-friendly venues in the Pacific Coast League.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts confirmed that Stone will start Wednesday's game against the Phillies, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Dodgers played things coy for as long as they could, but it's not official that Stone will make his MLB debut against Philadelphia on Wednesday. The right-hander ranks as one of the top pitching prospects in baseball, and he allowed just one over his last two outings while forging a 15:4 K:BB. Stone has three pitches that can miss bats and has shown the ability to command those offerings, but those who are considering using the 24-year-old in fantasy should be aware of the risk that comes from an MLB debut.

Stone will be called up by the Dodgers to start against the Phillies on Wednesday, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Stone will be flying to Los Angeles in preparation for that start against Philadelphia. The right-hander is considered one of the top pitching prospects in baseball, and while he's posted a 4.74 ERA over 24.2 innings thus far with Triple-A Oklahoma City, he's allowed just one run over his last two outings while registering a 15:4 K:BB ratio. Stone's stuff is good enough for him to find immediate success, but the Phillies will present a challenging first test for the 24-year-old's MLB debut.

Stone is being considered for a start with the Dodgers next week, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
A spot opened up with Michael Grove (groin) landing on the injured list. Stone is just one of the options to fill in, as the Dodgers are also mulling bringing Tony Gonsolin (ankle) back early or shortening the rotation for a turn. It might not be the best timing for Stone's debut, as he's off to a slow start at Triple-A Oklahoma City with a 7.20 ERA and 12:8 K:BB over 15 innings. However, he remains one of the team's top pitching prospects so there would be plenty of intrigue if he does garner the call.

Stone has a 7.20 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 12:8 K:BB in 15 innings through four starts for Triple-A Oklahoma City.
EDGE Analysis
Given that Stone was as dominant as any pitching prospect in big-league spring training and logged a 1.16 ERA in six starts at Triple-A to close last season, this is a surprisingly poor start to the season. Oddly enough, his worst starts have been the three at home, which is still a hitter-friendly environment, but not as extreme as places like El Paso, Las Vegas or Albuquerque. Stone's best start was April 5 in Las Vegas, where he had five strikeouts in five innings of one-run ball. The changeup, which is Stone's go-to weapon, is a feel pitch, so perhaps he just hasn't had the feel for it early on, but suffice to say he isn't banging down the big-league door just yet.

The Dodgers reassigned Stone to minor-league camp Tuesday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Stone has thrown 6.2 scoreless frames with a 14:2 K:BB across four Cactus League appearances with the Dodgers. The right-handed prospect is coming off a 1.16 ERA-debut in Triple-A last season, and he'll almost certainly make his way to the big-leagues in 2023.

Stone put up a 1.16 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 33:8 K:BB across 23.1 innings spanning six Triple-A starts to close out the 2022 campaign.
EDGE Analysis
His full-season numbers are simply spectacular, as Stone put up a 1.48 ERA, 1.12 WHIP, 12.4 K/9 and 3.3 BB/9 across three levels of the minors. The fact that he was even better after his second promotion than he had been in Double-A inspires even more confidence in Stone, who flew under the radar despite putting up great numbers in 2021 -- probably because he's a bit of an older prospect. Stone turned 24 in mid-October and doesn't seem to have much left to prove in the minors, so he could very well find his way into the Dodgers' rotation at some point next season.

The Dodgers promoted Stone from Double-A Tulsa to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Monday, Kyle Glaser of Baseball America reports.
EDGE Analysis
He'll be one of two elite Dodgers pitching prospects moving up to Triple-A, as right-hander Bobby Miller is also set to join Stone in the Oklahoma City rotation. After getting promoted from High-A Great Lakes in mid-May, the 23-year-old Stone dazzled over 73.1 innings with Tulsa, pitching to a 1.60 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 107:30 K:BB.

Stone has a 1.53 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 78:19 K:BB across 53 innings (10 starts) since his promotion to Double-A Tulsa.
EDGE Analysis
Those stats should have dynasty managers on high alert, as Stone -- a fifth-round pick in 2020 -- has been incredibly dominant in the minors this year and is looking like a potential mid-rotation starter in the big leagues. With three plus pitches (fastball, slider, changeup) to his credit, Stone has limited opposing hitters to just a single home run all season. He's also shown excellent control outside of his two most recent starts, in which he's issued nearly half of his Double-A walks. It's worth monitoring him out of the break to see whether his control returns to normal, but there's a lot to like here in general.

Stone was promoted to Double-A Tulsa on Sunday, play-by-play announcer Brad Tunney reports.
EDGE Analysis
He logged a 1.44 ERA and 28 strikeouts in 25 innings at High-A. It was a well-earned promotion for the 23-year-old righty, who made 11 starts at that level dating back to last year. He is an ascending prospect and could soon be considered a top-100 prospect, especially if he has success at Double-A.
