Sheets, who had logged just five plate appearances over Chicago's first five games, was a slightly above-average performer versus righties in 2022, producing a 108 wRC+ in those matchups while slashing .250/.301/.435 in 365 plate appearances.

Sheets is starting at first base and batting sixth Friday versus the Astros.

EDGE Analysis

Andrew Vaughn is on the bench with Houston throwing right-hander Cristian Javier. This should not be a platoon situation throughout the year, but the left-handed-hitting Sheets might get semi-regular starts at first base and in the corner outfield against right-handed pitching opponents.
